Somatic education is a growing field of research and therapies about movement, sensory-motor learning and retraining neural connections between the brain and muscles.
Somatic Fitness is a program for movement specialists to expand their skills in the rich arena of neuro-muscular retraining. This program offers the next level of education for movement educators. Starting Soma 2007 & Soma II 2008
Application Prerequisites: Current Certification of at least one of the following: Pilates Apparatus, Yoga, NIA, ACE, AFCM, AFAA, NCA, Anatomy (at least 15 hours)
Course Requirements: Each person’s prior experience will be taken into consideration (in confirming the exact courses to be taken.

$2700 9 Modules 2007-2008 once a month. Sunday 10-6. Monday 9-5
Each weekend will include the following:
Fitness Coaching -observation and movement analysis. Dynamics of Touch© - touch techniques for different issues. Dynamic Movement, Dynamic Health©-assessment & exercise protocols.
Body Counseling ©- professional issues in working with individual clients.
Somatic Fitness Integration
And a theme for each Module.

Module 3: December 16-17 Integrating Breathe
Module 4: January 20-21 Integrating the Legs
Module 5: February 24-25 Integrating the Shoulders
Module 6: March 15-16 Integrating the Feet
Module 7: April 20-21 Integrating the Head and Neck
Module 8: June 22-23 Integrating the Hand
Module 9: July 20-21 Connecting all the Dots
Somatic FITNESS provides the necessary educational requirements to deepen professional skills to become an ISMETA (http://www.ismeta.org/ International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association) Movement Educator/Therapist*.
